"What the hell was I thinking", were the first words out of my mouth when I reached the finish line.  My longest run previous to the Buffalo was 19 miles several weeks prior to the race.

My decision to run the race was to try something new and push myself to the limit both physically and mentally.  I had no aspirations towards setting a good time.  My only goal was to finish

The run was extremely humbling.  I was quickly passed by runners of every age and shape.

Race Tidbits

Elephant Head drop bag never made to drop area.  Ran the first uphill section and ran the downhill sections.  The first loop completed in 2:40.  Second loop ran/walked the first uphill and ran slowly to feed zone.  Walked the entire switchbacks on the way back.  Started feeling like total crap around mile 24.  I definitely did not eat and drink enough.  My knees were so sore that I couldn't run downhill between the feed zone and finish line.

Conclusion

Told myself that I'd never run that distance again.

Good to see you on here T-bone... not sure what you were thinking...after our 19 on the island I was pretty happy to only do that loop once. You had a great race though it appears...NICE
